From boho chic to upscale Gatsby, as long as it makes the client happy, StR Events is up for the job! “The key is knowing the right vendors to achieve the style and overall design we are looking for for each specific event,” says Founder, Jennifer Drew. StR Events is a “real, down-to-earth, boutique business,” Jennifer continues. “We love getting to know each of our clients, and make it a priority to make sure everyone feels like they are our only client.”
StR is a full service event and wedding planning business based in Columbus, Ohio. Please keep reading to learn more about Jennifer and her team.
How did you get your start in the wedding industry?
I got started after planning my wedding 10 years ago! My day-of coordinator ran a networking group for planners in Columbus, and also taught workshops for aspiring planners, she got my foot in the door. I shadowed, assisted and networked with many different planners around the city, then completed the Association of Bridal Consultants planning course, and started my own business on the side, while working full time.
Who is your typical client?
Our clients are awesome. They tend to people just like us - casual, laid back and always down for some fun while planning. They are usually young professionals who like nice things, but are also conscience about their budget. It doesn't matter to us your budget or style, as long as we can make the planning process enjoyable together, it's the right client.
What is your most memorable career moment?
I think being a part of Wish Upon A Wedding is something I will never forget. It was just over a year ago that we were able to plan a wedding here in Columbus for the organization, and it was truly something amazing to be a part of.
Describe a time you saved the day or went above and beyond for a client.
We had an outdoor reception where the venue couldn't make a change for bad weather earlier in the day. It down poured right as they had put down the dinner salads. My team had to transfer all the centerpieces and decorations into the venue, create a new layout inside and assist the catering team with transferring the food - all while assuring the client that everything was great, and keeping the guests entertained for an extra long cocktail hour.
What (Where) is your favorite wedding venue and why?
So many! I think what really makes a venue great, is their staff. If you have a great, hard-working professional staff, that can really make an impact on the wedding day.
What is your current favorite color combination?
All of them!
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
My kids, food and drink scene in Columbus
